The tiny donuts and pastries look delectable! Also, I found this snippet from an interview Ann Patchett did with The Marginalian, if it's any consolation: "Writing a novel, even when it’s going smoothly, is hard for me." I don't know how she makes out with backing down long, winding driveways, but at least we have evidence that it doesn't all come easy to her!
Your driveway story reminds me of one of my most mortifying moments when I was backing out of a tight spot at an old job and bumped my boss's mom's car. He saw it and came out to help me out in much the same way that the lady helped you. Sometimes if I think too much when I'm in reverse, I go the wrong way. I've been driving for 25 years. This should not be this difficult, but sometimes it is.
I feel better already! …what I’ve been thinking each week after reading this blog. Wonderful reminders to take it slow and enjoy what makes you happy 😊
I think it is so important to remind ourselves that it will be ok. With everything going on right now it is so easy to forget to calm down and relax. Honestly, with how crazy the last few days have been (I live in Tennessee where the tornados came through) I haven’t taken the time to remind myself that it’s going to be fine. Thanks so much for the reminder. You are truly amazing and you will get down the hill!
I can relate to your driveway difficulties! I have always been driving-in-reverse challenged. Forget navigating with a rear-view mirror, I struggle with a big fat wide screen camera. Such is life! Glad you made it down safely. Thanks for the reminder to take is slowly down those treacherous hills. And to be gentle with ourselves.

Also, I'll mom you for a second. Be gentle with yourself as you go through this rough part of the book. I have faith in you!

*accepts your momming*
I only wish we could sit next to each other and drink tea and make miniatures together for real. 💜
My sister in law’s driveway is narrow with large trees on either side. When we visit, I make my husband back out. I tried once and almost hit a tree.

Oh the backing down a long, steep driveway gives me nightmares
I love Ann Pachett's novels but I like yours even better :)
