Love your novels! Along for the ride is my favorite. I'm so glad you are writing again and I'm happy to find you on Substack. As for teen driving, yep, you are so right! Much slower process these days. My daughter is 22, just graduated from UVA, and I still track her on Life360 any time she takes a trip of an hour or more. I think it's a "mom" thing. Best of luck with your girl!

The year I went into high school, they stopped having the student smoking section. Wild to think about.

“coming up with what to have for dinner (again)” - the consistent bane of my existence! Please someone give me a menu/calendar of meals!

18 is still learning to drive, because most access is to my manual transmission. Had to switch with husband and doing driving bootcamp because nursing program (IN MAINE) requires clinical placements could possibly be 4 hour round trip! Did I mention MAINE, early darkness and weather in winter? Doing breathing exercises already.

My daughter is 26 and has her own car, and I am almost used to the idea of her driving.
