I am retiring from teaching in June. Your book is sitting on my shelf...as my retirement gift for when my classroom and teaching life are packed up for a final time. I will step into summer with your book in hand and plans for the new chapters of my life.
Congratulations on your new book! I came to meet you at Barnes & Noble somewhere in Pennsylvania when you were on tour for The Truth About Forever (ah, the memories of reading it!). I think it was a Tuesday, and my sweet mom (I should really thank her for this) drove four of us middle school girls several hours after school to be there. It was SO exciting to meet you, and you were so sweet to us. We thought we were the coolest girls at school the next day!
I finished Change of Plans last night and to see Defriese, Jackson High, and Luna Blu in the first 3 pages was like coming home!!! I was telling my husband that your books are a change of pace to others. You don't just tell a story, you paint it. I loved the nod to your real life with the hummingbirds and the waitressing. And I loved how you showed the benefits of slowing down..and the impact of the world we live in on our phones. I also loved that the male character wasn't your normal put together guy, but one who just speaks what he's thinking, however it comes out. Sometimes we need more of that endearing genuineness in this world.
It was such a joy to finally meet you after having read your books through my own young adult years!! I’m one of the high school teachers (the one with the well-loved Truth About Forever) who attended the Boswell’s reading. Flying through Change of Plans now and cannot wait to lend it to my students when I’m done!!!
I was there at Flyleaf books --- such a pleasure to hear you in person! Couldn't stay for your signing but still, I enjoyed the evening. I'm so glad you have a new book out. I've already started it and it's great. I love your mother/daughter themes. Good luck on the rest of your tour.
It's so exciting to hear the joy and celebration coming through your words! Thanks for this Friday Five, Sarah! I'm excited to read Change of Plans! :)
Thank you so much for coming to Milwaukee! I could listen to you talk about your writing life all day. And it does seem like livejournal was not that long ago. Time is strange. I look forward to finishing Change of Plans and am thrilled you have more books coming. 💕
Sarah - I’m just about done with Change of Plans and it feels like I’m a teenager again, reading Just Listen and The Truth About Forever for the first time. Times were simpler back then and I so appreciate you sharing your words with us again! It really transports me. I hope during your next tour you can come to Minnesota! I’d love to see you again (I was at a luncheon event in La Verne CA during your Along for the Ride tour!) and share the tattoo I got from one of your books. Congrats on the incredible release! So happy to be along for the ride since the livejournal days!!

Read it in three evenings! So good to hear from you again. :)
Can’t wait to dive in to Change of Plans. Summer in NC is here and this will set the tone for it. My past (and current) self is so excited.
